Hole.io unblocked: play Hole.io online free right here in your browser — no download, no sign-up, works on a school Chromebook.

Hole.io turns the usual .io formula upside down: you are not a soldier or a snake, you are a hole in the ground. Slide it under anything smaller than it is and that object drops in and disappears, and every swallowed car, lamp post or pedestrian makes the hole a little wider. The setting is a toy-like city, and the whole game is about turning that city into a crater faster than the other holes do.

It is a very different kind of match from the shooters that dominate Shell Shockers. There is no aiming and no ammo, so nobody is going to out-click you with a better crosshair. What decides a round is routing: which streets are packed with food, when to stop nibbling and go for something big, and when a larger hole is close enough to be a threat. It suits anyone who wants a few quiet minutes of live multiplayer between firefights.

The other holes are real players on live servers, so the leaderboard moves as people grow and get eaten. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.

How to play

Steer the hole with the mouse or WASD. Click or Space is the action key where the game asks for it, and when it prompts for a name, type one before you drop in. The hole follows your pointer, so you rarely need anything else.

A round starts with you tiny, able to swallow only small things such as people and bins. As you grow, bigger objects become eligible: cars first, then larger vehicles and eventually whole buildings. Anything that is still too big for your hole simply stays put, so a quick glance tells you what is on today's menu. Another player's hole follows the same rule: a bigger one can swallow you, and you can swallow a smaller one, which is a big chunk of points in one go.

Tips

  • Early on, clear the dense, small stuff. Crowded corners grow you faster than chasing one large object across the map.
  • Keep your distance from holes visibly larger than yours. Do not hover near the edge of a bigger player, since a single mistake ends your run.
  • When you are the bigger hole, corner smaller ones against the map edge or a block of buildings where they have little room to slip away.
  • Move steadily instead of stopping to aim. Constant movement keeps feeding you, and you pick up items almost without thinking about it.

If you want another live-server game, ZombsRoyale.io and Tribals.io are the closest in spirit, with their own maps and objectives, but both involve combat and fighting. Deadrise.io keeps the survival pressure of a multiplayer arena. For more traditional shooters, 1v1.LOL and Bullet Force give you aiming and weapons, which is the opposite of what Hole.io asks for.

Because rounds are short and the controls are one hand on the mouse, it also works well on a phone or tablet, though a mouse gives the finest steering.
