Shell Shockers: the first-person shooter where everyone is an egg
Shell Shockers is a first-person shooter made by Blue Wizard Digital, the studio behind Bad Egg, Basket Bros and Wrestle Bros. It runs in a browser tab and has done since 2017, and the joke is right there in the name: every player is an egg with a gun. One good hit cracks the shell, a few more and the yolk goes everywhere, and you are back at the respawn a few seconds later.
Matches are short and busy. A public server drops you into a game already running, with up to eight players on maps built from blocky crates, towers and ramps. You can also make a private game and send the code to friends. Four modes are on offer: Free For All, Teams, Captula the Spatula (capture the flag, with a spatula for a flag) and King of the Coop, where one team holds a zone to score.
What decides a fight is mostly the weapon you pick before you spawn. There are seven primaries, each with a different range and rhythm, plus the Cluck 9mm pistol as your sidearm and a grenade. Chain kills without dying and you earn eggs toward Shell Streaks — armour, a refill, an overheal, a tiny hard-to-hit egg, double eggs or the one-shot Egg Breaker — which is where a good run snowballs.

How to crack more eggs in Shell Shockers
- Pick a weapon for the map: The EggK-47 and Tri-Hard work almost anywhere. On open maps the Free Ranger and Crackshot snipers win the long lines; on tight maps the Scrambler shotgun and Whipper take corners.
- Stay moving: Eggs are round and slow to turn. Strafe with A and D while you shoot, jump when someone is aiming at you, and never stand still to reload.
- Take the high ground: Towers and crate stacks give you a clear shot down and make you a smaller target. Most maps have a spot that covers the spawn — find it.
- Save the Shell Streak: Kills without dying earn eggs toward a streak. Hard Boiled armour and Overheal keep a good run going; Egg Breaker turns every hit into a one-shot for a short time.
- Reload before, not during: After every fight, tap R behind cover. Being caught with two bullets left in the Whipper is how most runs end.
- Use the pistol: Switching to the Cluck 9mm with E is faster than reloading. Finish a cracked egg with the pistol, then reload the main gun.
